Now, I'm used to the occasional spammer getting on here and posting in one forum or another... but this recent guy spammed EVERY SINGLE BOARD! It makes it hard to know which forum actually has a real post in it. Frustrated!!!

I'm not ticked at the moderators... I know there's little you can do about it since these guys actually go to the trouble of signing up then spamming. I just wish there was something we could to THEM to even the score.
Palpatine

Ok... rant over. Now to mark all the boards "read" so I don't get needlessly excited when I see there's a new post. Wink

Believe me, I know. I HATE the spammers. I'm just glad the recent lot hasn't been porn. I've seen more stuff that I never, ever, NEVER wanted to see. Laughing

Actually we can get revenge. Since they either have to or usually have an email address or website listed we can spam them back with hate mail saying how much we hate their spamming of our message board. Evil or Very Mad

in fact I think I may get started with this last guy and his granite counter tops or whatever crap he's selling.

Admins, is there an option to set so that all new members have to have their registrations approved before they can post? That way you can catch and delete before they do any damage.

Also, it's probably best to NOT respond at all. Knowing there are actual humans around only encourages them.

True... and then they have your email address, too. Neutral

I think we tried that or some variation of it before. We had more traffic then and a few users unfortunately got lost in the shuffle, but it might be something to revisit now that it's quieter here.

I think it may be time to change the new user registration process and have a new user account approved by admins before being allowed to post because these spammers are out of control. Nearly every day all the boards are spammed. I wonder if it's the same people and if they re-use email addresses on their accounts (maybe you can auto delete requests from certain emails). I don't know. It's just annoying.

I'm going to email JayCee and see about getting the permissions changed. Believe me, I'm as sick of it as you all are. I delete spam and spammers every night. I feel like I'm bailing out the Titanic with a spork.

Alright, before I was just annoyed. Now I am pissed. There is nothing so frustrating as logging in and watching some ******* making ******* posts, right before your very eyes. These vermin appear to be registering and it would seem that the confirmation code is not keeping them out. Is there a higher level of security or is it easiest to simply keep deleting the spam threads when they appear? (I say this realizing, in a vague way, that higher security imposes headaches of its own.)

I have emailed JayCee, who owns the site. Hopefully she'll get back with us on a solution to the problem. Believe me, I'm sick of deleting the fu... suckers. Wink
